In 2009, the negative factors that enveloped China's knitting industry are still many, although no relevant statistics have been released recently, but the industry generally believes that the difficult period is far from over. Many enterprises' operations are in difficulties and the industry is facing an unprecedented severe situation.

In 2008, under the influence of unfavourable factors at home and abroad, such as the appreciation of the RMB, rising raw material prices and labour costs, the snowstorm at the beginning of the year, the floods in the south, the earthquake in Wenchuan, Sichuan and the global financial crisis caused by the US sub-prime mortgage crisis, the knitting industry still overcame various operating difficulties and maintained a relatively stable development of the industry. The unit price of knitted products has decreased. According to Customs statistics, from January to October 2008, China's exports of garments and clothing accessories amounted to US$98.267 billion, up 2.8% year-on-year, of which US$49.406 billion was exported in knitted garments and accessories, down 6.03% year-on-year. 6.03%, with prices falling by 7.58% year-on-year. Among them, the volume of exports by general trade was 12.784 billion pieces, accounting for 81.6 per cent of the total, and the amount of exports was 30.703 billion US dollars, accounting for 83.3 per cent of the total amount, down from the same period last year.

        Knitting industry leaders said that since the outbreak of the financial crisis, in some knitting enterprises face difficulties at the same time, but also let people see the hope of the healthy development of the industry. The industry has 1/3 of the enterprises timely adjustment, positive response, enterprise business conditions are good. Faced with the same economic environment and development opportunities, it is crucial for companies to actively face difficulties and take the initiative to adjust their mindset. Enterprises should be good at tapping their potential from within and seek fundamental solutions to problems. It is understood that the China Textile Industry Association has been considering the industrial adjustment and upgrading of the domestic knitting industry since the first half of 2008 and pointed out that, at this stage, it is necessary to moderate the scale of the industry according to market demand, while the current focus is to encourage enterprises to strengthen their confidence.
